Abstract Submission

Important Information for Authors

  • Deadline for submission of all abstracts has been set for the 31st of March, 2009.
  • All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and those accepted will be published in the Book of Abstracts. Authors will be notified by April 30th, the latest.
  • Payment of registration fees for at least one of the authors is absolutely necessary, for abstract submission.
  • The full contact details of each author must be mentioned, which are needed in order to facilitate the written communication with the Congress Secretariat, regarding the results of the abstract review and other information needed.
  • Please note that all abstracts will be presented as an oral or poster presentation.
  • If an abstract is not accepted as an oral presentation, it could be accepted as poster presentation.

Instruction for Abstract Submission

Given the fact that all Abstracts will be printed as submitted, all authors are kindly requested to strictly follow the instructions mentioned below:

  • The abstract should be typed in WORD format and should not exceed 250 words. All authors are kindly requested to type in Hellas Times New Roman (11cpi).
  • The title of each abstract must be in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • The names of all authors should be typed in lower case (small letters), the last name should be mentioned first and the complete first name should follow.
  • The name of the presenting author should be mentioned first and typed in BOLD letters. Multiple authors should be separated with commas.
  • In the summary text, the institution should be mentioned, below the names of all authors.

    For example:

    Andreas Panagiotou1, Loukia Kalomoiri2, Panagiotis Alevras3

    1. General Hospital Volos
    2. General Hospital Sparta
    3. Ahepa Hospital Thessaloniki

  • The institution as well as city and the country of origin of all authors should be mentioned in small letters. Full address (street, street no, postal code) is not necessary.
  • Please include commas and single spacing between Title, Authors, Institutions, and Main Abstract Text.
  • The Abstract must be structured as following: Introduction, Aim, Material, Method, Results, Conclusion and References. 
  • The main text may include tables, charts and typical abbreviations.
  • You are kindly requested to mention whether your abstract should me included in the “abstracts to be rewarded” category. In this case, the full text of the abstract should be sent to the Congress Secretariat.
  • Any changes, additions, or corrections will not be accepted after submission.
  • The submission is possible in Greek or English language. No other language will be accepted.
  • Abstracts submitted after the deadline of the 31st of March will not be accepted.
  • The submission must be confirmed by the Organizing Secretariat with the appropriate “submission confirmation” by email. Should this confirmation not be received, please contact the Congress Secretariat.
  • Abstracts with phrases such as “the results will be discussed” or “the facts will be presented” cannot be accepted.
  • Abstracts sent by post will not be accepted, only those submitted electronically will be reviewed.

Method for Abstract Submission

All abstracts accompanied by the CV of the presenting author can be sent to the Congress Secretariat with the remark/subject: “10th World Congress of Sterilization 2009” the latest until 31st March, 2009, as following:

  • Abstracts sent by fax will not be accepted.
  • Abstracts that do not follow all instructions mentioned above will not be accepted.

Instructions for Poster Presentations

Poster Sessions will take place on a designated area of the Congress Venue.
Poster Sessions for Approved Abstracts are an important part of the Congress. It is a method for immediate and effective communication between all those interested for specific subjects, actions or programs.
The correct and careful design and preparation for posters is very important for the achievement of it’s purpose and should be very well considered.

All authors are kindly requested to strictly follow the instructions mentioned below:

  • All poster presentations should be in English or Greek language. No other languages will be accepted
  • Each poster presentation should mention the topic category, in which it belongs.
  • Each poster presentation should mention title (preferably at the top), as well as author or authors names.
  • Poster dimensions should reach maximum the following dimensions:
    0.90cm (width)* 1.80cm (height) – A0 Size
  • If possible, all poster presentations should be presented in one format and not divided into more than 3 sections.

All authors for approved poster presentations should be informed that their posters will be presented onsite during the congress strictly on the scheduled time, which will be decided by the Scientific Committee and will be announced in the final program of the Congress.

Poster Award

An official Award will be granted to the best poster presentation. You are kindly requested to mention whether your abstract should me included in the “abstracts to be rewarded” category. In this case, the full text of the abstract should be sent to the Congress Secretariat.
